LAST WEEK'S ROUNDUP: Light to moderate business developed on
Thursday in the North with dressed trade ranging from 173.00-
175.00, mostly 175.00, generally steady with the previous
week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Southern trade did not
develop until Friday afternoon with live deals marked at mostly
111.00, fully steady with the prior week. According to the
Friday afternoon Mandatory reports total weekly trade volumes
were as follows: KS 2,012; NE 34,960; TX 0; CO 0, IA 23,492.
Bear in mind that the South had only started to trade cattle
when the afternoon reports came out, so it will be interesting
to see just what weekly trade volume totals, and weighted
averages are when the summaries are released a little later
this morning.

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: The country is typically quiet this
morning with packers focusing on the collection of new
showlists. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed
until the second half of the week. Beef cutouts are expected to
be mixed with light box movement.

For the week ending September 15, 2018, Imported Beef Passed
for Entry in the U.S. totaled 39,960, 85.43% of the previous
week and 102.59% of the prior 4-week average.
